Four inputs determine most of the price — here is how each one moves it:
Material
Resin prices span from about ¥9/kg for commodity grades (PS, PE) to ¥800/kg for PEEK. High-temperature plastics such as PEI, PSU and PPS cost far more but handle heat, chemicals and demanding applications.
Part weight
A heavier part uses more resin and a longer cooling cycle, so both material and machine-time cost rise together.
Cavity count
More cavities cut the unit price per part but raise mold cost — 2, 4 or 8 cavities share one mold base and split the cycle time.
Part size
Tooling cost scales with projected area and height. Typical injection molds range from about ¥12,000 for a small 2-cavity tool to ¥115,000 and up for large multi-cavity tools.
